Humpty Dumpty Lunch

I've mentioned a couple times lately how much the boys are enjoying The Real Mother Goose. I'm so glad I didn't skip over it!  Well, they've always loved Humpty Dumpty.  I've had the idea of a Humpty Dumpty breakfast rolling around in the back of my mind lately, but my kids prefer Cheerios and fruit for breakfast.  So it it was much easier to put on the plate as a lunch.

I hard-boiled two eggs to use as Humpty Dumpty.  Since Emory is slightly pickier, I decided to scramble a third egg to be the "insides" of Humpty after his big fall, because I know he loves scrambled eggs.  I used the top half of a slice of 12 grain bread as the wall, and from the bottom half I cut out a (gingerbread) Man and Horse with miniature cookie cutters.

Cheese for the sun, blueberries for a blue sky.  I sliced some celery up very thinly, and cut flowers from strawberries.

How did it go over?  Emory didn't touch his hard-boiled Humpty (so Elliott ended up eating 2 1/2 eggs total). Elliott asked why he didn't have ALL the King's horses and men, and also asked for strawberry jelly on his wall.  Neither ate their sun.  However...they still loved it, and there were plenty more veggies and fruit on the side for seconds!

I will definitely have to start making themed meals more often, because I love their excitement over something so simple, even if I'm not the most creative in the kitchen!  You can see some other in the kitchen favorites to see what other 'masterpieces' we've enjoyed!
