The Encounter by Steven Arterburn {review}

The Encounter by Steven Arterburn is about a successful, wealthy and famous entrepreneur, Johnathan Rush.  Rush has a problem though, and that is the lifelong bitterness he has carried with him over being abandoned by his mother as a young child.  His life is falling apart, and during counseling, it is suggested that he return to his roots of Fairbanks, Alaska to find out what he can about his mother and the circumstances that led to her decision to walk away.

This was a quick and easy read.  The story was often predictable, yet still interesting enough that with the exception of a few minor interruptions, I basically finished the book in one sitting.  I felt a connection with Rush as he slowly discovered not only truths about his past, but truths about the person he had become.  The story touches the heart and reaches out to those who are confused, scared, or searching for answers.
