Calling All Curriculum Junkies: Schoolhouse Review Crew Open Applications

Most of you know that I am currently a reviewer for the Schoolhouse Review Crew.  I joined in 2012 and have been reviewing a variety of amazing curricula for four years now.  It's hard to believe it's been four years and two kids since I started!  But I digress.

The point of this post is to share that the Crew is currently accepting applications for the 2016 year!

Schoolhouse Review Crew 2016 Applications

If you've ever wondered why I continue, or what's so special about the Crew . . .

The Crew has given me the opportunity to review a variety of curricula from big names in the homeschool market, to small publishers, to new authors.  I've been exposed to programs I might have never found on my own.  I've found new favorites that I might not have ever used if not for the crew, and now I continue to purchase from these companies.

Being on the crew, using new curriculum regularly, it is a fun challenge.  It gives the kids something new and exciting when the mundane has taken over; it gives mom a challenge to learn a new program, a new purpose behind a method.  Honestly, it has helped us define our homeschool style, and I've learned a lot about my kids and myself as we test our flexibility and try new things.

It's always interesting to see how a program will work, how it will challenge the kids, how we will incorporate it into our homeschool year if it's something we love and just can't give up when the review period is over.

Some of my all-time favorites over the years:

Primary Arts of Language:  Reading and Writing
Math U See
Maestro Classics (with another review coming soon!)
ARTistic Pursuits
Chess House
Clued in Kids

Obviously I can't list everything we have loved over the last four years. . . those are just a few favorites, and it doesn't begin to scratch the surface.

Aside from the curriculum, the Schoolhouse Review Crew offers a unique community of homeschool bloggers that offers support in homeschooling, parenting, blogging and social media.  I've grown as a blogger, but I've also learned so much about homeschooling from the more seasoned crew members who have been walking this path a little longer than I have.  The crew is full of members that homeschool for different reasons, with different homeschool methods (Charlotte Mason, classical, unit studies, eclectic, relaxed, and so on) and from different parts of the world.  As I said, it's a unique community, with the common goal of educating our children in the best way we know how.

So if you've been considering applying for the Schoolhouse Review Crew, now is the time!  Applications for new members will be open through the end of October, so check it out and see if it might be a fit for you!
