Meet the Family

My kids call me momma, everyone else calls me Brittney.  I'm an introverted homebody, but I enjoy reading, church, running, hobby farming (animals-not gardening), blogging and just being with my kids - in no particular order of course!

My husband and I met at the insistence of my cousin.  She went to church with him and thought we'd hit it off.  I thought that he was handsome and had the most beautiful blue eyes I'd ever seen on a man, but we did not instantly hit it off on our first date.  Yet here we are, almost fifteen years later and he's my best friend, my provider, my support.  He is a dedicated father and a devoted husband, and I still think he's really handsome.

We have four amazing children.  We were first blessed with two handsome boys, and then two girls.  They are currently 12, 9, 6 and 4 and as of the 2019 school year will be in 7th, 5th, 1st and Pre-K.

My education and background are in business and banking, but I left my job to be a stay at home mom when our oldest was four.  It is our goal to provide a unique, independent educational path for each of our children.  If I had to describe our homeschool "style" I would say that we are Charlotte Mason inspired, with a love of living books and experiential learning.  However, I'm not so much a type of homeschool as I am a mom who just wants to do what is best for each child!  My favorite curricula to date has been Five in a Row, Beautiful Feet Books and Ambleside Online, in no specific order.

I ramble and talk a lot, so I started this blog as a journal of sorts when we first started homeschooling.  I'm not a photographer or a chef or a master homemaker, so you won't find stunning photos of delicious recipes and perfectly organized rooms.  You will find me talking about homeschooling and family life, so you'll usually see my kids in their play clothes climbing trees, playing with their pet pig, or in the middle of a messy project, or otherwise being kids!
I also do blog reviews of books and curriculum, so please read my disclosure for more information.

Feel free to contact me any time!
